An update for the newbie in all of us.
16th July 2010
You know, I can’t remember the last time ANY MMO, not just EQ2 did something like this.
It isn’t often that a company will go back and add new content to the beginning of a game. But the crazy devs responsible for EQ2 have done just that.
If you haven’t heard, they launched the Halas Reborn expansion which is a brand new area for starting characters. It will have all of the great trappings of a whole new game. You’ll be playing in the Halas tundra that will have new housing, Raids galore, and a starting zone all its own.
Some of you may be wondering just why anyone would do that? Well, for one thing just about everyone and their dog has played the standard starting zone for EQ2, so it’s gotten a little stale. It’s hard to draw in the newest generation of gamers if you’re still using the content that the last two generations have played. Yes there is the nostalgia factor, but that just doesn’t hold up when there’s so much competition for the MMO audience out there.
The other reason this is fun is actually focused on the veteran players. Sometimes is really great to start a new character and play from the beginning again. No rushing, no powerleveling. You still buy plat of course, but not as much of it. It’s fun to take the trip down memory lane, same as if you ever got the itch to load up EQ1, or Diablo 2, or Double Dragon (okay I just dated myself there). The only problem with this is as soon as you start playing those opening areas again, you start remembering what you didn’t like about them as well. The quests were kind of tedious, focusing on fetching and really basic play. The area hasn’t changed much so you’re looking at the same old places you’ve been before.
The addition of a new starting area breaks that up a little. For me, it’s the chance to try out a different class and not mind starting from the very beginning. It will feel nostalgic in that I’m playing a weakling trying to make my way through the brutal fledgling stages of herodom, but it will feel new just like it did the first time I installed EQ2 because I won’t know what to expect.
Anyway, buy some plat and check this thing out. It’s going to be fun!
Some more hints when you’re buying plat
5th May 2010
Last time I talked to you about some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind after you’ve made a buy. I realized later that I’m really doing this backwards, because you have to safely get to the point where you’ve bought the plat before you have to worry about that stuff. It’s all still valid, you just need a few tips to get you safely into the plat before you have to worry about what to avoid when it’s in hand.
Some of you are veterans and don’t need me telling you anything. In that case, feel free to stop reading and tune in next time, same bat time, same bat channel. For the rest of you, read on.
If you’re going to buy plat, do some research first. Google to get a few sites that look good, then google them to see if they’re actually legit. The review information on any given site is rarely accurate because they can tailor it to whatever they want. You need good third party information. This can be a lengthy process because you need to weed out the flamers to get some really good insight into what a site is like.
This all leads me to point two: check for credentials. Most of the really good sites out there have been looked at by industry experts and rated. Take Toonstorm.com for example. They’ve consistently gotten excellent ratings from Bizrate and others over the years. For those of you who don’t know, Bizrate is an independant group that provides consumer ratings on a variety of products. They’re very reliable and extremely informative.
Next, try to stay local. While sites located outside the US can have some really great deals, there’s always the risk that they’ll take your money and run. There’s no real oversight on that sort of business. If they’re located within the US, they’re bound to US business laws and are easy enough and safe enough to work with. Besides, no one wants to see a repeat of what happend when WoW dropped their 3.1 patch and nailed all of the Chinese outfits on the market.
Finally, only use sites that take easily-tracked payments. If they insist on money orders, you may as well be burning the cash. Credit cards and Paypal are perfectly safe for plat buyers no matter what claims they try to make.
I really hope this helps everyone.
Why you might want to buy plat. (and a few safety tips)
25th February 2009
Evening Folks.
Tonight it’s another article on buying Eq2 plat . What we’ll get into is “why” you might want to, and a few very important safety tips.
The first item we are going to focus on is the “why”. There are many different reasons why you would want to buy Eq2 plat, so we’ll cover a few of them tonight. If you just started playing Everquest 2, you would have very little equipment, and little to no in game currency. By buying Eq2 plat, you would then be able to purchase yourself some decent equipment and spell upgrades, which would aid you in leveling more rapidly. You would also be able to upgrade your equipment and spells as you leveled, so you can continue to level quickly.
Perhaps the chief motive people have for purchasing Eq2 plat is time. Many people who play have families and full time jobs, or they’re in school full time, with hours of homework every evening. That doesn’t exactly leave a whole lot of time for truly playing for fun, let alone trying to get needed plat for item upgrades/spells, or even tradeskill materials. By purchasing Eq2 plat, you leave the time you do have for the more important parts of the game, such as hitting your favorite TSO instance to get those final shards for that awesome range slot item you have been lusting after for some time, or you can get those final mats needed to *finally* level your carpenter to 80, so you can start decorating your house (and even get those rare harvests you need to make that furniture for your decorating). You might also want to use some of that extra time saved for spending with your family!
If you’re here, you are probably looking to purchase some Eq2 plat. If this is your first time there are a few simple things you can do to keep yourself safe from scams, as well as from possible suspensions and/or banning. (This is also a good refresher for you Veteran Eq2 plat buyers out there).
In order to keep yourself safe when buying EQ2 plat, you need to research the best places to buy from. You want to find a company that is reputable, known for their safety measures, and has good reviews. Also be sure that they provide guarantees and 24 hour support. I highly recommend that you do not use any seller that asks you to use a money transfer service (i.e. Money gram, Western Union), as they are assuredly a scam. One place we have purchased from previously with first class results is Toonstorm.com. Once you have decided on where to purchase your plat from, by following these few simple steps, you can greatly reduce the risk of an account suspension or ban.

Thanks again for reading, I hope this information is helpful, and that your next purchase of EQ2 plat goes smoothly!
Happy Frostfell, EQ2 Plat Buyers!
17th December 2008
Hey guys, (and gals!)
Hope you’re liking the weather wherever you are and getting lots of good gaming in. I know we’re all enjoying Frostfell, EQ2’s very own Christmas celebration. Norrath is getting cozy and festive with new crafts, quests, and snowball fights. I’ve been checking out some of the new holiday quests they put out this year, as well as taking one of my newer characters through the classic ones. Lost a toe to frostbite playing in the snow, but it wasn’t one I cared too much about
Also picked up some new recipes to try, so all in all it has been an entertaining and busy holiday for me.
I got me some EQ2 plat last week using the coupon I told you about from Toonstorm.com (thanks guys!) and have been steadily spending it so I can buy more EQ2 plat (what a rough life I lead!) but haven’t yet decided who my next target will be for review. Stay tuned next week for some hints on buying EQ2 plat safely and without getting ripped off. Happy Holidays!
The first time we’re going to buy Eq2 Plat
6th November 2008
Hello again everyone!
I hadn’t originally planned to post again until the weekend; but I ended up getting some spare time today - so my time is your gain.
This week I wanted to try a new site that I haven’t really tried before. I found one within about 3 minutes of searching(go google ads). They promise under 6 hour delivery times and have pretty competitive rates - on a side note they also say they are 100% American - who knows about that.
The website is Toonstorm.com and the going rate is 20 Plat for 25.61, this might of course change by the time you read this.
I think the best way to do this is post what I have written now; and then I’ll post a follow up with my ranking when I get the order. (P.S. Order placed at 8:40 AM Mountain time - we’ll see how long it takes to get it)
====================================
Got The Order
That was INCREDIBLY quick - I guess they carry stock on EQ2; I’ll give you the exact run down on how dealing with this company worked.
1. I placed the order - first time order.
2. I got a phone call from a 100% U.S. person just to confirm it was me that placed the order.
3. The person told me they had stock and it would be delivered within 15 minutes.
4. (Me not liking to wait for anything) By the time I even logged in it was there and waiting for me.
As far as customer service and delivery of the product go I don’t really think this website is going to be beaten by anyone, short of telepathic customer service reps these guys are about the best there is out there.
I’m going to review another site mid next week but I’ve got to give a big hats off to Toonstorm.com for this weeks review. This is how a company that sells eq2 plat SHOULD treat their customers.
A+
Toonstorm.com is a great place to buy EQ2 Plat
